The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a public exploration university in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The university was developed from a Birmingham extension centre set up in 1936 and became a four-year institution in 1966 and a completely independent university within the University of Alabama System in 1969. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is authorized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission for all its courses and degrees. UAB is also granted an official report that they finished the reaffirmation procedure in 2015. Their coming reaffirmation will be in 2025. In the 2022 U.S. News & World Report rankings, the University of Alabama at Birmingham was tied for the 148th best national university and was ranked tied for the 67th best public university. As per the QS World University Rankings 2022 and THE World University Rankings 2022, the University of Alabama is placed between #801-1000 and #601-800 respectively. 

Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is located in the Southside neighbourhood of Birmingham in Alabama. Enveloping further with 100 megacity blocks, the roughly blockish college blends with the civic character of the Southside, stretching between 4th Ave and 12th Ave north to south and 8th St and 22nd St east to west. University Boulevard serves as the main axis of the cube and College Green sits roughly at the centre. The college can be divided into three sections The medical centre occupies the utmost of the college east of Green, and the academic heart of the college stretches from the  Green west and University Boulevard South, Athletics installations, including Bartow Arena, is located on the far western side of the college. Since 1969, UAB has experienced expansive growth and construction systems are common across the college. UAB comprises one college, nine schools, and the Graduate School. Together, these divisions offer 56 undergraduate degree programs, 59 master's degree programs, and 40 doctoral programs. Before 2010, the departments of Trades and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Science, Natural Science and Mathematics, and Education were separate, degree-granting units within the university. The departments were intermingled into a single campus (the first at UAB) the College of Trades and Arts, with Education retaining its identity as a distinct unit within the new college.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham enrolled the largest first-year class on the record in September 2021. It's the third year out of the last four years with a fall registration of further than ever. Graduate School registration is a 7x increase from fall 2020 and breaks last time's record registration number. The undergraduate class comprises 281 National Merit Scholars, bringing the number of presently enrolled National Merit Scholars to 940. Both fall 2021 figures are the topmost in UAB history. The university has also received an R1 PhD Universities – authentically High Research Activity standard in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Advanced Education. University of Alabama scholars continue to win prestigious public awards. 59 university scholars have been named Goldwater Scholars.
The University of Alabama has given approximately 16 Rhodes Scholars, 16 Truman Scholars, 36 Hollings Scholars, and 16 Boren Scholars. Furthermore, Nicholas Hayes was among one of the 32 Americans named to receive a Rhodes Scholarship, the most distinguished educational award for American institute graduates, and the oldest award for foreign study. 37 of the current university professors have got NSF CAREER distinctions, one of the country’s most prestigious recognition of top- accomplishing young scientists, in areas ranging from nanoscience and engineering to natural knowledge. Around 52 university professors and researchers are in the National Academy of Inventors. In February 2021, UAB was honoured as the highest Producing Institution for Fulbright US Scholars for the 5th year, out of 6 times.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s total registration is roughly around 38,000 per year. Among them, 29,100 are bachelor's and 3,400 are postgraduate students. Around 57% of full-time scholars are females and 43% are male. The university has also achieved a diversity rank of 302 out of total schools in the rating.
